Starting my career as a graphic designer was tough. The design classes that I took could only get me so far. I found it difficult to build a strong portfolio with content that was useful in the job market. The field is very competitive and it can be difficult to get that competitive edge you need to jump start your career. I started to work as a freelance designer mainly working with non-profit organizations on branding, marketing, and advertising projects. I worked with executive directors, senior board members, and other non-profit organization leaders. This experience and these connections I made played a major role in getting my graphic design career started. With all of the connections I had built up within the non-profit community I started to receive dozens of projects to work on. I decided that I could use this opportunity to start my own company, offering this experience to other students and designers who need that extra boost to jump start their careers in graphic design. I founded Resonate Brand Solutions, a company that offers non-profit organizations professional designs while giving students a chance to use their talent and gain valuable experience that will help them build a stronger career.
